6 Simple Ways to Transform Your Classroom

Transform Your Classroom With Technology

Let’s spice things up by bringing some technology into the mix. Are your kiddos studying about animals? Grab those tablets or Chromebooks for some research magic. Graphs on the agenda? Teach your students how to create a survey using a Google Form and then poll their classmates! Want a sneak peek into their latest story or a rundown of their math strategies? Get them to hit record on SeeSaw. And guess what? When you’re wrapping up a unit, toss in an escape room activity. The options are endless, and your students are gonna eat up these fresh twists. Time to tech it up and see the classroom engagement go through the roof!

Create a Positive Classroom Culture

Let’s dial up the good vibes in our classroom. Start by laying down some crystal-clear expectations, throwing in a dash of teamwork encouragement, and giving big shoutouts for student wins. One way you can do this is by incorporating a morning meeting or an afternoon wrap-up routine, where everyone gets a chance to share. How about turning your class into a recognition party? Introduce the VIP of the day – they get to come up to the front, and the whole class spreads the love by saying a compliment. If it’s the end of the year, consider having your students give one another these classmate awards. It’s like building a culture of positivity and inclusivity, one high five at a time. Get ready to spread those good vibes!

Transform Your Classroom with Hands-On Activities

Let’s turn up the fun by getting hands-on with your teaching game. Dive into the world of hands-on activities and let your students unleash their inner explorers. Math got you puzzled? Toss them a challenge with a cool counting collection. Studying shapes? Have your students use tangrams to create a design. Exploring main idea in language arts? Get everyone to bring in a “Main Idea About Me” bag – it’s like show-and-tell on steroids. Remember, hands-on activities aren’t just for science class.  Time to shake things up and make every subject engaging with a hands-on lesson.

Use Flexible Seating

Shake up the seating scene! Consider offering a variety of seating options, such as bean bag chairs, standing desks, or even cozy cushions, to allow students to choose their preferred learning environment. The kids will love being able to choose their seat for the day.

Make Use of Meaningful Classroom Décor

Jazz up the learning space with the help of your students. Use posters, charts, and other visual aids to create a visually appealing and stimulating learning environment. The most important part- have your students help create the posters you put around the room. Need an anchor chart, have your class create it. They will love seeing their work up and will be more motivated to use it as a resource.

Encourage Student Choice and Ownership

Give students some choice and ownership over their learning by allowing them to select their own learning materials. This can be done through choice boards. Project time? Let them choose the finished product. Ever heard of genius hour? Give students a weekly time slot to dive into a topic they’re curious about and let them shine as the class experts. Top it off by giving them the stage to teach their peers about their passion project. It’s teaching and learning, but with a student-powered twist!
